Leading Better Care - Delivering for Patients
Leading Better Care enables Senior Charge Nurses / Midwives and Team Leaders to deliver better care in consistent, measurable, evidence based way
To achieve this vision, the following aims and objectives have been agreed:
LBC Aims
- All Senior Charge Nurses, Senior Charge Midwives and Team Leaders will be working in the context of the LBC components:
- To ensure safe and effective clinical practice
- To enhance the patients experience
- To manage and develop the performance of the team
- To ensure effective contribution to the delivery of the organisations objectives
by March 2013 and able to demonstrate this.
- Nurses & Midwives will be able to demonstrate the contribution they make to the quality and experience of care that patients receive under the three themes by March 2013:
- Safe
- Effective
- Person centred

Register for your NHS Education ATHENS username and password
You can apply for an NHS Education ATHENS username and password if you belong to any of the following groups:
- Staff of NHS Scotland (including contractors such as general practitioner staff, community pharmacy staff, dental surgery staff - Register
- Undergraduate or postgraduate students working or training with NHS Scotland - Register
- Social services, public library staff and other local authority staff working in partnership with the NHS - Register
- Voluntary sector organisations - Register
- Other partners including staff in higher and further education, Scottish Government staff, nursing homes, the armed services and patient/public representatives on NHS groups - (see full list) - Register
Others may also be eligible. A full guide to who is eligible can be found here. If you are unsure which group you fit into, or feel you need access and don't belong to one of these groups, please get in touch with your local ATHENS administrator for advice.
